Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 28 February 2024

From the Principal Last Saturday I had the most wonderful experience seeing our students and staff in the parade at Pako Festa. Pako Festa is an incredible celebration of the cultural diversity within our community. It is always such a special event in the Geelong calendar but to see our College represented in the parade for the first time in many years was extra special. I also cheered on more of our staff, students and alumni represented in other groups throughout the parade. This year’s…

Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 21 February 2024

From the Principal On a stunning day like today, I cannot stop but think how grateful I am for the beautiful environment I have the privilege of working in each day at KIC. We are so lucky to have the abundance of amazing gardens and trees around the College where our staff and students can spend time when they are not in class. We also see classes making the most of the surrounds and working outside at times or in the case of How Does Your Garden Grow or our Foundation and Grove students…

Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 14 February 2024

From the Principal The very nature of schools is that it is either go, go, go through the term, or stop through the holidays. This term, so far, has certainly been go, go, go as we dive headfirst into the new school year. Our new Year 7s have returned from camp and, from all accounts, seem to have had a wonderful time. I am extremely grateful to all the staff who headed out to camp with the students and created the atmosphere for such a great experience. We also have some Year 9 students out…

Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 07 February 2024

From the Principal The positive way in which the school year started for our students and staff has continued throughout this week. Our students seem settled and as I walk around classrooms there is a great sense that everyone is focused and doing their best. Speaking of doing their best, last night Ms Howard and I attended the IB Diploma Programme Awards Ceremony where students who achieved a score of 40 or more out of 45 are recognised. Seven of our students were recipients of this award:…

Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 31 January 2024

From the Principal Joy, smiles, confusion, laughter, questions, happiness, lost, challenging, fun, discovery, wonder, overwhelmed, friendship, learning, inquiry but mostly Joy. This is how I would sum up our first day back for 2024. Like the quintessential Aussie pub with no beer, a school just does not feel right without students, so it was wonderful to welcome our new and welcome back our old students to Kardinia for the start of the 2024 year. At the start of the week, I shared with our…

Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 29 November 2023

From the Principal I cannot quite believe that this is the last e-news for the year. It seems to have come around at a blistering pace. As we wrap up the 2023 school year, I want to take this opportunity to thank our College community, parents, students, and staff for helping to make 2023 a very successful and positive school year. We have some staff retiring or leaving to pursue other paths at the end of the year after many years of dedicated service. In particular, I want to recognise…

Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 22 November 2023

From the Principal Last Saturday night saw another milestone for our Year 12 students with the Graduation Dinner which was held at the President’s Room at Kardinia Park. It was a lovely evening and a great way for our Year 12’s, their families and our staff to celebrate the end of exams and the end of 13 years of school. I had a discussion early in the term with one of our Year 12’s just before they finished school and exams started. We talked about all the lasts - last week of school, last…

Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 15 November 2023

From the Principal Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to evolve, offering many advantages and opportunities across many industries, including education. Students and staff have been discussing how we can use AI for the benefit of high-quality teaching and learning, while minimising any negative impacts. We are very happy to include our families with the opportunity to listen and ask questions of Leon Furze, an expert in this field, and we are thrilled to have him share his insights with…

Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 8 November 2023

From the Principal Last week I had the opportunity to visit our team at Kardinia Sum Pun in Chiang Mai. It was the first time I had seen the team face-to-face since 2019. While I have had lots of Zoom meetings with them, there was nothing quite like visiting and getting to see the staff and the campus in-person. I was able to present Khun Jeab with her 15-year service award from the College and then present Khun A and Khun Noot with their 20-years of service awards. They were so excited and…
