Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 26 November 2025

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart On Saturday night we farewelled our wonderful Year 12 Class of 2025 at their Graduation Dinner. Today, we welcomed the new batch of Year 7 students for 2026 for their Orientation Day. The never-ending cycle of schools as we constantly transition from year to year and farewell and welcome students from and to the College is one of the many things that I love about schools. On one hand, there is excitement for the graduates for their new possibilities…

Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 19 November 2025

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart This week wraps up the end of exams for all our Year 12 students. As one student said to me, it is a bittersweet, relief that exams are over but feeling nostalgic already for the great times and friends at school. We will celebrate with our Year 12s and their families at the Graduation Dinner on Saturday night but on behalf of the entire College community, I take this opportunity to thank our Year 12s for being such an important part of our community and…

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart Last Sunday, our community gathered for “Bloom and Brunch”, led by our College Community Council (CCC), particularly Davin Kroeger, Fiona Russell, and with the assistance of Senior School staff member, Nicole Holton. Together, we planted over 200 native wildflowers and grasses at Serendip Park, sourced from local seed from GenU. These species will attract beneficial insects, supporting a thriving ecosystem of lizards, frogs, and birds. With insights…

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart This evening, I am delighted to be attending not only the opening of the College Art Show 2025 but also the official opening of the School of Visual Arts. The transformation of this building from our Lower Primary Building only a few years ago, to our new School of Visual Arts has been marvellous. The architecture and new features, blended with the original building, are very impressive, as are the sustainable features of the building such as lighting…

Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 29 October 2025

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart Yesterday morning there was a buzz around the Katsumata Centre and Hall as our Year 12 VCE (mixed with a few Year 11s) and IB DP students were gathering for their first exams, English for VCE and Biology for IB. As I was waiting with the students before they entered the rooms, there were some nerves, but also a really good sense that they were ready and well prepared for what was to come. The many smiles I saw after the exams were also a great indicator…

Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 22 October 2025

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart Last Friday night we held the Year 12 Graduation Ceremony. It was a fantastic occasion to honour our graduating class of 2025. We were so proud of each and every one of the students who walked across the stage. Each student had their own unique journey to get to that point, and this is what makes it so special. It goes far beyond ATAR scores and awards, to celebrating each unique individual achievement. No one but the student will really understand what…

Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 15 October 2025

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart Yesterday we bid farewell to a beloved friend, colleague, and teacher in Christine Anketell. Her service was a wonderful celebration of her incredible life. It was testament to the esteem with which she was held within our community that so many colleagues and students as well as ex-students either attended the service or provided tributes in other ways. Talking to some of her former students after the service, they told me about how much working with…

Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 08 October 2025

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart I have just returned from the most wonderful trip to France with a group of 23 Year 10 and 11 French language students. Spending time with these young people has made me very proud as a Principal. The behaviour of our students was exemplary and not just because I was on the trip. The students demonstrated intercultural understanding and awareness and showed a willingness to learn and understand a different culture and cultural perspectives. They showed…

Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 17 September 2025

From the Head of Senior School - Kath O'Neill It’s hard to believe that we’re at the end of Term 3 already. This week the Senior School will be electing their 2026 College Prefects, and I’d like to acknowledge the 25% of Year 11 students who put themselves forward for positions. While not everyone can be appointed a prefect, having so many young people willing to put themselves forward to make a difference at our school is really heartening. I look forward to sharing these appointments with…
