Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 08 October 2025
From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart I have just returned from the most wonderful trip to France with a group of 23 Year 10 and 11 French language students. Spending time with these young people has made me very proud as a Principal. The behaviour of our students was exemplary and not just because I was on the trip. The students demonstrated intercultural understanding and awareness and showed a willingness to learn and understand a different culture and cultural perspectives. They showed…

From the Head of Senior School - Kath O'Neill It’s hard to believe that we’re at the end of Term 3 already. This week the Senior School will be electing their 2026 College Prefects, and I’d like to acknowledge the 25% of Year 11 students who put themselves forward for positions. While not everyone can be appointed a prefect, having so many young people willing to put themselves forward to make a difference at our school is really heartening. I look forward to sharing these appointments with…

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart This will be my last eNews for the term as I head off in the early hours of Saturday morning with a group of 23 students for a three week visit to France. Most of the time away will be spent at St Alyre, our sister school in the city of Clermont Ferrand. We have a wonderful connection with St Alyre built over many years. Madame Ekkel was instrumental in creating this great relationship and we are very grateful that we can provide this amazing…

From the Deputy Principal, Students, Staff and Community - Matt Baron Over the past few months, I’ve had the privilege of spending time with both staff and students, exploring what makes our school’s culture so special. These interactions have been an invaluable opportunity to appreciate the values, traditions, and relationships that shape our unique community. When I asked people what makes the KIC culture so special, the answers were varied and thoughtful. However, one response was mentioned…

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart A very brief eNews from me today. While there is a lot happening, and much we can celebrate, today I would just like to take the time to say how appreciative I am to be part of our College community and how grateful I am for our wonderful students, staff and extended community members.
Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 20 August 2025
From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart What a joyous day we had at Kardinia International College today. Across the school, K-12 staff and students, alike, embraced Book Week. The costumes were amazing but even better was the fun and respectful way that all our school community joined in on the day and events. I want to give a big shout out to our Junior School Captains Matilda and Zac and College Captains Edith and Harvey who have been planning this event all year. This is the first time…

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart This week we are celebrating all things Science in the Senior School during Science Week. There are some fabulous activities and events happening throughout the week. I would like to send a huge thank you to Mrs Dillon and her team of scientists for all their work leading up to and throughout this week. The options for our students to engage in the world of science is growing exponentially and it is great to see our students being encouraged to explore…

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart This week we have some very special guests at school. The granddaughters of Mr and Mrs Katsumata, Nao and Ema, are visiting Kardinia along with Nao’s husband and three children (the Katsumata’s great grandchildren). The children are spending some time in classes in the Junior School this week. Today, I had the privilege of sitting down with Ema and Nao and interviewing them about their memories of their grandparents, Mr and Mrs Katsumata, and their…
Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 30 July 2025
From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart This week I am really excited that we are celebrating our school’s diversity and inclusion with Multicultural Day in the Senior School on Friday. I look forward to seeing how our students and staff outwardly show their cultural identity through the traditional costumes and other clothing that represents their cultural heritage. While events like this are great fun, they serve a much greater purpose of celebrating the many rich and diverse backgrounds of…
