Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 04 March 2026
From the Head of Senior School - Kath O'Neill Thank you so much to all the families who joined us yesterday for our inaugural Brighter Futures Festival. A number of staff have worked very hard on bringing this together for some time, and to see so many families here with their children, learning about everything the College has to offer was amazing. Thank you so much to all of the students who volunteered their time as performers, for presentations, as tour guides, and on stalls as well. We…

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart Last week we celebrated two notable events on our College Calendar, the Junior School and Senior School leaders’ Investitures. These are opportunities to recognise and congratulate students in their final years in the Junior and Senior Schools who have been elected by their peers to lead the College. It is also a time to remember and celebrate what is important to us as a school and to encourage all students to find their own ways to develop, learn and…

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart Last night I had the privilege of representing Kardinia International College at an event held by the Consul General of Japan, Mr Furuya Tokuro, to mark the 66th birthday of the Emperor of Japan. When Gotemba Nishi High School was founded by the Katsumata family, the Emperor was six years old. Thirty years later, Mr and Mrs Katsumata founded a school across the world and our wonderful school commenced. Now we are celebrating our 30-year anniversary and…

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart Yesterday, I had the pleasure of welcoming 25 French students and their teachers from our sister school St Alyre in Clermont-Ferrand, a beautiful town in the middle of France. We were welcoming back old friends, as last year myself along with three teachers and 23 students visited St Alyre. Our French friends will experience Australian hospitality and culture over the next two weeks as they stay with their Kardinia families. Earlier in the day yesterday…

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart On Thursday 1 February 1996, students were welcomed for the first time to Kardinia International College. A small group of students in the Kindergarten, forty students in the Senior School and six teachers commenced the journey to where we are now, celebrating the school’s 30th anniversary. Much has changed over that time, but what has not changed are the values entrenched in our school motto Wisdom Respect Friendship. Over the last 12 months our staff…
Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 03 December 2025
From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart I really cannot believe that this is the last eNews for 2025. When I look back on 2025 it has been jam packed with activities, events, camps, trips, performances, the list goes on. It also seems to have flown by in the blink of an eye. I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank our wonderful staff for a great year. Thank you also to our parents and College community for your support, it really does take a village to help our young people…
Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 26 November 2025
From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart On Saturday night we farewelled our wonderful Year 12 Class of 2025 at their Graduation Dinner. Today, we welcomed the new batch of Year 7 students for 2026 for their Orientation Day. The never-ending cycle of schools as we constantly transition from year to year and farewell and welcome students from and to the College is one of the many things that I love about schools. On one hand, there is excitement for the graduates for their new possibilities…
Kardinia eNews - Wednesday 19 November 2025
From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart This week wraps up the end of exams for all our Year 12 students. As one student said to me, it is a bittersweet, relief that exams are over but feeling nostalgic already for the great times and friends at school. We will celebrate with our Year 12s and their families at the Graduation Dinner on Saturday night but on behalf of the entire College community, I take this opportunity to thank our Year 12s for being such an important part of our community and…

From the Principal - Catherine Lockhart Last Sunday, our community gathered for “Bloom and Brunch”, led by our College Community Council (CCC), particularly Davin Kroeger, Fiona Russell, and with the assistance of Senior School staff member, Nicole Holton. Together, we planted over 200 native wildflowers and grasses at Serendip Park, sourced from local seed from GenU. These species will attract beneficial insects, supporting a thriving ecosystem of lizards, frogs, and birds. With insights…
