04/01/2023Chelsea Hart

Our Principal, Mrs Catherine Lockhart said she was delighted with the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) results across the College.

“With the release of the IB Diploma results, we now have the complete picture of the academic performance of the Kardinia International College, Class of 2022.”

“We had 32 students undertaking the IB Diploma. This is on top of the excellent results our Year 12 VCE students received mid December 2022.”

“In addition to all the wonderful co-curricular and community service accomplishments during the year, our IB students have again produced another strong set of academic results.”

“The top IB student was Jessica O’Halloran with an IB score of 43, converting to a nominal ATAR of 99.45.”

“We also congratulate the following students all receiving a nominal ATAR above 99. Lillian Henderson, School Co-Captain- 99.2, Toby Newman 99.2, Oliver Armstrong, Sports Captain 99.1 and Seiji Lorefice 99.1.”

“The College achieved a median IB score of 37 converting to a nominal ATAR of 95.”

“A total of 53 percent of our IB Diploma students received an ATAR above 95, 72 percent received an ATAR over 90, 94 percent of our IB Diploma students received an ATAR above 80.”

“Combined with our strong Year 12 VCE results, we now have the complete picture of our Class of 2022 and would like to congratulate all our Year 12 students on their excellent results. Ten students received an ATAR over 99, placing them in the top one percent in the state – an amazing achievement!! There were a further 17 percent of students that received an ATAR above 95, 36 percent of students received an ATAR over 90 percent and 63 percent of students received an ATAR over 80.”

“Beyond the wonderful academic results of our Year 12 students, I would like to also highlight the achievements of students that have wholeheartedly embodied our vision of acting as agents of positive and sustainable change and have displayed outstanding contributions to the College.”

“Our Social Justice Committee believe in taking action to make a difference, to help people in our community, nationally and internationally. The students coordinate and action projects that aim to benefit the lives of those marginalised or disadvantaged and have raised an incredible $57,350 this year towards initiatives, such as MS Readathon, St Vincent’s CEO Sleepout and World’s Greatest Shave.”

“As well as their wonderful fundraising efforts, the students of Kardinia have completed approximately 900 hours of community service throughout the year, demonstrating their commitment to social responsibility and contributing to a more inclusive, respectful, peaceful and sustainable world. We have an incredible 223 students who speak languages other than English within the College, as well as 1163 students learning a second language, furthering diversity and international mindedness within our community.”

“In an admirable display of rigour and perseverance, the internationally recognised Duke of Edinburgh Award has been achieved at a Gold level by five students this year. These students have completed a minimum of 12 months of voluntary service, physical recreation, skills development, team adventurous journeys and intensive projects. The College also had a total of 514 participants across school sports throughout the year, developing their leadership and teamwork skills while representing the College at numerous events.”

“I sincerely thank the many teachers, families and friends who encouraged and supported our students throughout their studies in 2022. It is time to celebrate the achievements of all of our Year 12 students,” said Mrs Lockhart.
