Kardinia International College students celebrate VCE results

12/12/2022Chelsea Hart

Kardinia International College Principal, Mrs Catherine Lockhart said she was delighted with the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) results across the College.

“Completing VCE is a major achievement and I congratulate our 173 Year 12 VCE students for reaching this significant milestone. I have been so impressed by the dedication of the students and their teachers and know that the students were very well prepared.”

“More than 10.65 percent of VCE students received an ATAR above 95, 28.99 percent received an ATAR above 90, with 57.4 percent receiving an ATAR above 80. We also congratulate our highest achievers all receiving ATAR scores above 99, Jesse McDougall, our School Co-Captain who achieved the College’s top VCE score, receiving a perfect ATAR of 99.95, Richard Li, receiving an ATAR of 99.8, Ayman Miazi receiving an ATAR of 99.75, Angus Skeen, receiving an ATAR of 99.45, and Jingjun Zhou, receiving an ATAR of 99. Overall, our VCE students achieved a median ATAR score of 83.45.”

“Students also achieved six perfect study scores of 50, in Biology, Chemistry, General Mathematics, Legal Studies, and Physical Education. Congratulations to Year 11 student, Jema Hely achieving perfect scores in Biology and Legal Studies, Sienna Merrett (Year 11) achieving a perfect score of 50 for Biology, Ayman Miazi (Year 12) achieving a perfect score of 50 in Chemistry, Shylah Tucker (Year 12) achieving a perfect score of 50 in Physical Education and Year 10 student Sienna McDougall achieving a perfect score of 50 for Further Mathematics.”

“Our Year 12 International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma results and ATAR conversions will be released on Wednesday 4 January 2023 providing the full picture of the academic performance of the Class of 2022, when we combine our IB Diploma and VCE results at that time.”

“We had a further 148 Year 11 students completing either one or two sequences of VCE Unit 3/4 studies and two Year 10 students completing one sequence of a VCE Unit 3/4 study.”

“Beyond the wonderful academic results of our VCE students, I would like to also highlight the achievements of students that have wholeheartedly embodied our vision of acting as agents of positive and sustainable change and have displayed outstanding contributions to the College.”

“Our Social Justice Committee believe in taking action to make a difference, to help people in our community, nationally and internationally. The students coordinate and action projects that aim to benefit the lives of those marginalised or disadvantaged and have raised an incredible $57,350 this year towards initiatives such as MS Readathon, St Vincent’s CEO Sleepout and World’s Greatest Shave.”

“As well as their wonderful fundraising efforts, the students of Kardinia have completed approximately 900 hours of community service throughout the year, demonstrating their commitment to social responsibility and contributing to a more inclusive, respectful, peaceful and sustainable world. We have an incredible 223 students who speak languages other than English within the College, as well as 1163 students learning a second language, furthering diversity and international mindedness within our community.”

“In an admirable display of rigour and perseverance, the internationally recognised Duke of Edinburgh Award has been achieved at a Gold level by twenty (nine current and 11 alumni) students this year. These students have completed a minimum of 12 months of voluntary service, physical recreation, skills development, team adventurous journeys and intensive projects. The College also had more than 500 participants across school sports throughout the year, developing their leadership and teamwork skills while representing the College at numerous events.”

“I sincerely thank the many teachers, families and friends who encouraged and supported our students throughout their studies this year. It is a time to celebrate the achievements of our students.”

“The College is committed to a unique schooling experience based on our motto of ‘Wisdom Leads to Respect and Friendship’. Our motto is embedded in the school, and the challenging and personalised curriculum on offer, creates an engaging learning environment for all of our students,” said Mrs Lockhart.
