Fantastic results for our Equestrian Team at Nationals

09/10/2017Sarah Milford

Congratulations to the four Kardinia International College Equestrian Team riders who recently competed in the National School Championships in Toowoomba, Queensland, including: Lucy Peters (Year 8), Tiana Smith (Year 6), LaMoza Velisha (Year 5) and Rosie Heagney (Year 3). The trip took 3-5 days, where stops were frequent for the benefit of both the humans and the horses! Their results were outstanding and we congratulate them all.

Rosie Heagney came first in both of the dressage tests in the Primary Preliminary Dressage. This culminated in Rosie being named NATIONAL CHAMPION. This feat is all the more amazing when you consider that Rosie is in Year 3 and she was competing against children up to Year 6. Results from our other riders were also fantastic.

Lucy came first in the ridden phase of the secondary Working Hunter Class, she also came sixth in the Elementary Dressage and seventh in the medium dressage. In a separate event prior to the National School Championships, Lucy also competed in the Pony Club Nationals also in Toowoomba in the Junior Dressage where she won the NATIONAL TITLE.

Tiana came fifth in the Primary Combined Training, which involves both a dressage test and a show jumping round. Tiana also competed in the Primary Working Hunter and came fourth in the ridden phase. LaMoza came fifth, ninth and fourteenth in the primary show jumping and seventh and tenth in the Primary preliminary dressage.

Well done everyone!
